Summer Fun, makin' time fly by!!!!

We've been busy, busy, busy makin' memories this summer! The pool at our townhouse complex is finished, so we've been swimming, and we just got back from 10 days of vacation! We spent the first 8 in Atlantic Beach, NC and the last 2 in Williamsburg, VA at Busch Gardens (this was spontaneous and a surprise for Jax, so so fun!). The beach was WONDERFUL, perfect weather, and lots of fun with family and friends (that might as well be family). We're really trying to focus, even more than normal, on cherishing our time with Jax, and making the most of the last several months we have as a family of 3. We can't wait for her to be here, but we know it's going to change how we do things, so we are taking advantage of how easy it is to travel with just one little one. Here's a few pics from our wonderful week!

When we were about 2 hours away from Atlantic Beach, I read a message on my facebook from Mireille Dijkstra (www.funkydoodledonkey.blogspot.com ) that she and her family were in Pine Knoll Shores, which is only about 10 minutes from where we were headed. I was shocked, to say the least, because not only is Atlantic Beach a pretty quiet, non-commercialized area, but moreso because Mireille and her family live in South Africa!!!! I really couldn't believe they were there, but we were super excited and immediately started making plans to meet for dinner. Mireille and her husband Dirk have twin daughters from Thailand, which is how I met her about a year ago, thru searching for Thai adoption blogs. It may sound cliche, but it's so true, it is indeed a small world! We had a wonderful time visiting and laughing together at dinner that night, they were inspiring people to be around, and we hope to meet again one day!
after dinner at Aqua in Beaufort, NC, July 15, 2011

We're staying home for a few weeks now, but we head out of town again on August 18 to visit friends in Maryland and friends in Martinsburg, West Virginia. When we come home from that trip, it will be almost time for Jax to start preschool (insert lots of tears here). Staying busy is good for me, it keeps from thinking too much about September, I think I'm dreading it and can't wait for it equally as much, but it will be here before we know it, and I just keep praying and believing that I'll get to see my baby girl's face then! I hope everyone's having a great summer!
